100% Organic Cotton

Our t-shirts are made from 100% organic, fairly traded cotton.
When we started out, we had a stall at Spitalfields Market. People would sometimes ask us what our organic shirts tasted like. The short answer is, “chewy”.

The longer explaination is as follows...
Cotton is a crop, grown like food. Organic cotton is grown with no pesticides, herbicides, artificial fertilisers or GM seed.

What’s wrong with those things?
Pesticides & herbicides are routinely, acutely toxic. Artificial fertilisers are sizeable contributers to climate change. Genetic modification is an unproven ‘sledgehammer’ technology.

How can we be sure it‘s organic?
We print on t-shirts from two different suppliers, which is why we have two different cuts. American Apparel & Saf-tag. They have the following credentials...

American Apparel
We buy American Apparel blank t-shirts from their ‘sustainable’ (organic) range. They use organic cotton grown in Pakistan to Global Organic Standards (GOTS). Their t-shirts are sewn in LA, in ‘sweatshop free’ conditions, which include free staff massage & subsidised health insurance. More >

Saf-tag
Saf stands for socially aware fashion. Their t-shirts are made from organic cotton grown in India, to GOTS (see above). Saf-tag manufactures it’s organic t-shirts, “according to fairtrade principles.” More >

Why does it matter?
When you buy a product, you are in effect, endorsing the way it was made & encouraging more to be made in the same way, to replace the one you bought. Consumer power.
